Peanut butter is good for dogs

Peanut butter isn’t just a sweet treat for us humans, dogs love them as well.

You may be worried that feeding your dog peanut butter could be harmful. This is an understandable concern, as there are various types of nuts that are known to be detrimental to dogs if ingested. Macadamias and walnuts are not good for dogs and should be avoided.

The downside of feeding nuts to dogs is that some of these can become poisonous if consumed over a long period of time. This is due to the high levels of phosphorous and other ingredients which can become even more dangerous with extended exposure. These levels of toxicity may cause both kidney and bladder problems, as well as other fatal issues. It should also be noted that several types of chocolate contain nuts, which can be extremely dangerous.

There is excellent news for those of us who elect to include peanut butter as an assistant in giving medicine, rewarding our dogs with peanut butter dog biscuits, or just sharing a taste on the tip of our finger. Peanuts are not actually classified as nuts, but rather as a legume. More specifically, peanuts are a type of bean.

As with any new food, it should be given in small portions to start. Dogs can have allergies to certain kinds of food, just like people, so it is important to take this into consideration. If you think your dog is having an allergic reaction, stop feeding them and observe them closely. Like many products, there can be good and bad ones. The protein levels in peanut butter are high, but so are the calorie counts. If you are worried about added preservatives, you can always choose an organic version.

In conclusion, there is no evidence that peanut butter is bad for dogs. As with any food or treats we give our dogs, we should check the label and review the other ingredients used in the preparation. This is great news for my dogs as they love treats that are filled with peanut butter.

It’s important to keep in mind that we must exercise care and caution when it comes to our furry companions’ food, these will surely help them live a long and happy life with us.
